Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone is a fantasy fiction book written by J. K. Rowling published in 1997. Harry Potter is a boy who has yet to uncover the secrets that hold his life. Harry is an 11-year-old boy who lives with his aunt and uncle the Dursleys. They also have a son named Dudley who is Harry’s cousin. The Dursleys despise Harry so much his room his in the cupboard under the stairs with only a small bed and a little light. He wishes he had something better. One day the Uncle Dursleys decide to get out of society because Harry kept on receiving letters from someone. Uncle Dursley obviously didn’t want Harry to open the thousands of letter he receives each day. They then drive out into the middle of nowhere where an island is located. It was so rusted over and very small. They would set up and get some sleep. During the stormy night a big giant hulk like man storms in and scares the Dursleys and Harry half to death. The man’s name was Hagrid. He was apart of Hogwarts. Hagrid storms in and tells Harry that he is a wizard. Which shocked Harry as much as Hagrid shocked Dudley when breaking down the door as soon as thunderstruck. The Dursleys did know that Harry was a wizard since his Dad was top of the academy wizards as well. But they were killed by the dark lord Voldemort when Harry was just a baby. Hagrid tells Harry that he will be attending Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry this coming September first. When the day finally comes to go to the train for Hogwarts  Harry is late for the train. As well as can’t find the platform to the train. Platform 9 and 3 quarters, which is unknown to the train station workers. While waiting and has little time to board the train he gets the help of other Hogwarts students. It is hidden in a wall between platforms 9 and 10. In order to enter the platform he has to walk directly into the wall which can seem scary. Harry otherwise does is with ease. When Harry gets to school after the crazy train ride meeting two strangers Ron and Hermione, the new students enter the dining hall where all the older students are sitting. At the front is Professor of the school Dumbledore with other professors on his side. All the students then line up to be sorted into their houses. The sorting hat will decide the house you will belong to. The possible houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. When it is Harry’s turn to be sorted the hat can’t decide between Slytherin or Gryffindor. I liked the Harry Potters series. The books lead you on and keep you wanting to read more. I love Fantasy Fiction and Adventure books and this is perfect for that type of reader.

             The Maze Runner by James Dashner, published on October 6, 2009, is a fictional novel in the perspective of young teenage boy Thomas who has suddenly been put into a place called the Glade. The Glade is the center place inside a giant maze which holds farms and homes for the people inside the maze.  When Thomas comes to the maze he is told that every so often the creators of the maze will send new supplies and also new people to join and help figure out the maze. This process of supplies and finding a way out of the maze has been going on for over two years. He is also told that every day the runners go out and try and find a way out of the maze.  The runners are a group of boys who exit the Glade when no one else does to find a way out. While there are other jobs to do besides the runners (farmers, chefs, butchers, cleaning), Thomas is told that he needs to experience every job except being a runner since you have to be chosen to be one, but Thomas knows he wants to and needs to be a runner. Every day though the walls close in and help keep out the Grievers. The Grievers are a terrifying creature that is a half robot half animal, spider-like monster. The walls only close at dusk and open at dawn. But one evening when the walls were about to close two runners hadn’t come back from the maze. The Glade members were all gathered around the maze scared half to death because they didn’t know whether or not their friends were coming back, and spending a night in the Grievers territory would kill them since nobody had ever survived a night in the maze. While Thomas and the rest of the crew were still waiting for their friends’ return, the walls started to close. Then in the distance, Thomas saw Minho and Alby the two friends stuck in the maze. But the walls were closing too fast and everyone knew that they wouldn’t make it back in time. Then Thomas decided to take actions and go into the maze to save them, but the walls closed while Thomas, Alby, and Minho were inside the maze…  I did enjoy reading this novel because I think it was plotted very well and though it was slow going, in the beginning, it became very intense as it progressed. I do like what happens at the end because the dramatic detail is magnificent.  You’ll just have to read it yourself.

 

I chose the colors red, blue, and yellow since I wanted red and blue for America since during the Rocky movies Rocky wore American shorts. I chose the red and blue and found yellow would look good with it. I made the background yellow and the words red and blue for pop and would be attracted to the red and blue. I chose the bold fonts for the boldness. I liked the bold style of it i felt more attracted to it.
